Mentoring charity In2Out, based at HMYOI Wetherby, is celebrating its 10th anniversary of supporting young people as they have left prison and returned to communities across the north of England.
With a special event for partners, donors and prison staff at Wetherby Racecourse on Friday 10th May, they will be looking back on over 750 young people who have been helped to make positive changes in their lives.
But In2Out is looking to the future too. With plans to reach even more young people leaving different prisons and returning to geographic areas further afield, they have already begun to expand their support into the Midlands.
As part of their commitment to this, Executive Director Mark Screeton will trek the 268 mile Pennine Way in 15 days, aiming to raise £20,000 towards providing mentoring support. You can follow his journey by subscribing to his blog here and donate towards his total here.
Working with young people aged 15-21 years old, In2Out mentors offer practical skills and help with employment or training opportunities. Participants work on problem-solving skills, self-image and confidence. With a mentor by their side, young people start to envisage and shape a different way of living and find hope for the future, making a real difference in their lives and outlook.
Mentoring support from In2Out has helped reduced reoffending rates among 15-18 year olds from the national average of 60%, to under 25% for participants receiving their support
