Love is something more stern and splendid than mere kindness.
CS Lewis
Sixty years after his death, does the acclaimed author have truths for 21st century believers, let alone those who deny any faith? Where would Lewis have stood on the credibility crisis facing the Western Christian church at a time when so many are in need of genuine hope?
During a unique day of thinking, discussion, and prayer, apologist and author Trevin Wax will share ways in which contemporary beliefs and culture wars offer opportunities to advance the Christian Gospel in both personal and public spheres, just as Lewis did in another key epoch in history.
Weaving together his own research with a deep understanding of Lewis’ work, Trevin will invite us to consider cultural challenges and rising opportunities to beckon people with love, through the wardrobe, into a Kingdom that is much bigger than self.
A one-day event in person and simultaneously online.
About the speaker
Trevin Wax is visiting the UK to deliver guest lectures in Oxford while staying at CS Lewis’ house, The Kilns, as a CS Lewis Foundation Scholar-in-Residence.
His new book, The Thrill of Orthodoxy: Rediscovering the Adventure of Christian Faith, is available in October.
Trevin, who USA’s Christianity Today named a millennial leader shaping the church today, will speak about:
- meeting cultural trends towards expressive individualism in our society
- the belief that religion is a personal choice from a marketplace of spiritualities
- the places humans seek rest: wellbeing fads, fandom, identity politics and more
- how best to bring Gospel hope: is it still possible, like Lewis, to publicly declare Christian truth and to call people to personal faith in Christ in our times?
