The Street Pastor project in Leeds was launched on February 25, 2006. Thirteen churches came together to support the project and 12 volunteers were trained before beginning to work on the streets in April, overseen by Coordinator Mo Elliot.

The West Yorkshire Africn-Caribbean Council of Churches together with Churches Together Harehills and Chapeltown provide a Steering Group for the teams.
