Acorn Alternative Provision is a charitable organisation dedicated to serving young people who are on the fringes of mainstream education, delivering educational programmes and interventions in small, therapeutic learning environments. We work with young people aged 11-16 who are not engaging in, or who are at risk of exclusion from mainstream education. This may be due to social, emotional, or learning needs that are not being met at school; mental health difficulties; or school refusal or phobia.
Our curriculum has firm Biblical foundations and supports basic skills - engaging individuals at their points of need and interest, leading to improved opportunities in education and life beyond their time with us. This strongly reflects our underpinning Christian ethos, which embraces and models love, grace, compassion, forgiveness and hope.
Our Centres are run in partnership with local churches, making the most of opportunities for pastoral support for the young people and their families, and seeking points of connection that demonstrates the love of Jesus. Our Normanton Centre is run in partnership with All Saints Parish Church, Normanton, which is part of the Diocese of Leeds.
