If you haven't heard of it before, the Red Chair Project is an international campaign that takes places during the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. It runs each year from the 25th November, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to 10th December, Human Rights Day.

Every year during the 16 days, Restored joins in with the Red Chair Project, and we'd love for you to get involved! It's an awareness raising campaign that couldn't be simpler: all you need is a chair and a sign.

To get involved, you just need to find or place an empty chair in a public place - churches work really well! You can then cover the chair in red fabric or similar, and display information about domestic abuse and violence against women. The empty chair acts as a powerful symbol of the many women who've been killed through gender-based violence, and is a great way to raise awareness and start conversations.

We've created a pack of resources that contains everything you'll need, including a poster, flyer, and template prayers that you could use in a church service. Last year we were so encouraged to see so many churches not just displaying red chairs, but dedicating time in their Sunday services to speaking and praying about domestic abuse.

For inspiration, take a look at the Red Chair Gallery.
