Weekly Devotional - Search me O God, and know my heart

My friends, as you know, the decisions we make in life (good or bad) shape our destiny, and such decision-making processes take place in our heart.  Because satan is aware of this, he is able to influence us through deception.

King David -The Psalmist was aware of this truth hence he cried out to the Lord in Psalm 139:23-24Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me and lead me in the way everlasting”.

As Christ-followers, we too must daily ask God to search our hearts so that we don’t fall prey to satan’s lies and deception in every area of our Christian walk.  Doing this would require a daily spiritual check-up to ensure:

  • That God is still at the center and control of our lives – Not us. And our lifestyle, actions, words and deeds are governed by His plan for us.
  • The word of God is the barometer – All the decisions we make are filtered through the lenses of the scripture and not just our feelings and emotions.
  • Obedience to the word – When God searches our heart and reveals the area we need to make correction and repent, we should honestly embrace and not fight it.

Christ-follower, the heart is deceitful, so let God search your heart and guide you to making the right decision you need to do life with Him and for His glory. If you are currently not a Christ-follower, satan, is the greatest deceiver – run from him to Jesus today.

All glory to God!
