The season we are all living through has been a challenging and revealing one. The nation has witnessed unprecedented events and the people are asking questions about life, purpose, meaning and God in a way not seen for a long time. The church has an amazing opportunity to display to the nation what faith in Jesus means and looks like. At these times the words of Jesus carry so much weight, the church is called 'the salt of the earth' and 'the light of the world' (Matthew 5:13-14). This is a time when the church needs to be rooted in God and equipped to serve the poor. Leeds School of Theology offers two courses which equip you to go deeper in your walk with God and be equipped afresh to live for him in this season.

LSoT Nightschool:
This course equips students with a 'Foundation in Christian Theology'. The topics we cover include healthy hermeneutics, the doctrine of the church, Old Testament and New Testament surveys, the doctrine of God, Christology, the Spirit and much more. The content is taught by theologians who are both high level academics and missional practitioners. This creates a rigorous but practical learning environment.

Our student community is beautifully diverse. We draw people from more than 50 different churches, meaning students have an invaluable opportunity to learn from others as well as from the teachers. Running over 20 Monday evening sessions this course is perfect for those wanting to do deeper in their understanding of God and Scripture in the midst of a busy life. The course runs during academic term time only with breaks for half terms, Christmas and Easter.

The course costs £375 and is held at the St George's Centre in Leeds City Centre. Visit http://leeds-school-of-theology.org/nightschool-2/ for more details.

Mission, Theology and Ministry for the Margins Course:
We are excited to continue our partnership with Lighthouse West Yorkshire to facilitate a dynamic learning community which will serve Christians already working alongside the marginalised or having a heart to pioneer in this area. Lighthouse is a fresh expression of church that serves adults with multiple and complex needs including poverty, mental health, homelessness, trauma and addiction.

The course, delivered through 10 Monday evening sessions over the course of a year, will include passionate teaching from the Lighthouse team which fuses together biblical studies, theological reflection, interviews with people who have lived experience and cutting edge research on addiction and trauma to inspire and equip the church to engage with those on the margins in a way that looks and loves like Jesus.

The course costs £205 and will be held at St George's Church. Visit http://leeds-school-of-theology.org/mission-theology-ministry-for-the-margins/ for more details.
