How do we make Leeds Cathedral accessible to all?
Your opportunity to influence improvements
One of the key outcomes of The National Lottery Heritage Fund grant project for Leeds Cathedral was a study of how access and toilet facilities could be improved. We know from comments received over the years and from recent surveys that these can be significant barriers, particularly for those, of all ages, with reduced mobility and for those who accompany them during their visits.
We are now able to share the initial findings of the study and proposals for improved level access and toilets for at Cathedral. These will be displayed in the Cathedral for a 3-week period, and on 22 September there will be a presentation from subject matter experts.
Display Boards – North Aisle, Leeds Cathedral
Friday 30 August to Sunday 22 September 2024 (During church opening times)
Presentation – Wheeler Hall (next to the Cathedral)
Sunday 22 September 2024, 12.30pm (after 11.00am Mass)
Speakers:
Mr Richard Williams RIBA, Cathedral Architect
Mr Kevin Anderson, Diocesan Property Administrator
All welcome, no booking required.
The proposals can also be viewed online here: https://www.dioceseofleeds.org.uk/cathedral/national-lottery-heritage-fund-grant/
There will be the opportunity to provide feedback and ask questions at both events.
We are still in the very early days of making this possible, however your input into this potential project is valued and necessary to help us ensure our Cathedral Church is accessible to all.
