A diary can make a wonderful gift – and also be a useful item to use in ‘low key’ evangelism with friends and neighbours.

Leeds City Mission have obtained a quantity of small, extremely cheap and attractive diaries for believing people to give away as new year presents.

The 2026 diaries have been obtained from Christian publishers Day One Publications.  They have a week to a page.  Each day has a bible verse.  Its concluding page has a succinct explanation of the way of salvation.  It lists key bible passages for people to read.  There is a dedicated page for personal details.  It has eleven stunning colour photographs of nature scenes.  It is A6 in size and can easily slip into a handbag or pocket.

They are being stocked in the Christian Book & Card Booth – a section of the Leeds City Mission Hub in Mistress Lane, Armley.  The Hub is open every day until Christmas (not 24 December) and visitors are welcome to call in between 10.00 am – 3.00 pm.

Leeds City Mission Coordinator Andy Dalton explained that a lot of people these days use their mobile phones as a digital diary.  However paper diaries are still popular – especially amongst older people.  These are more than diaries – they are an excellent piece of evangelistic literature to use in personal outreach and witnessing for the gospel.  He said that they were making them available at less than cost price as a literature initiative for the new year.

The diaries are being offered for the give-away price of 50p.  This is a 75% reduction on the normal retail price and is a nominal donation.  The focus is on getting a useful item of Christian literature into the hands of people outside of normal church circles.

Anyone can call in at the Compassion Centre of Leeds City Mission in the remaining days before Christmas. Hours of opening are Monday to Friday 10.00am–3pm and also 10.00 am - 1 pm on Saturday 20 December.  It will also be open after the holiday break from Monday 5 January onwards

Leeds City Mission is one of the oldest Christian organisations in Leeds being in continuous existence since 1837.  It is a multi-church Christian agency which organises projects from its premises helping to support Leeds churches and also reaching out to people at the margins of life.  Its premises are at Mistress Lane, LS12 2LJ and are diagonally opposite Armley Library.  It is the last public building in the Armley shopping area.
