Leeds Christian Community Trust (LCCT) is urgently seeking new trustees as it reaches a critical point in its 25-year history.

The organisation has long played a quiet but important role in supporting grassroots Christian social action across Leeds, providing a trusted governance and administrative home for projects that might otherwise struggle to operate.

Supporting grassroots work across Leeds

For more than 25 years, LCCT has helped people turn their vision for positive change into reality, supporting projects working with:

  • Young people in marginalised communities

  • Women experiencing domestic abuse

  • People seeking sanctuary

  • Neighbourhood-based community development

  • Food poverty and crisis support

  • Faith-rooted social action across the city

One trustee described the original vision behind LCCT simply: “Many people with a vision aren’t back-office people. If we provide the back office, they can run with their vision.”

Those involved with LCCT's projects have highlighted its safe governance, relational approach and trusted presence in the city, as well as its ability to build bridges between churches and local communities.

LCCT is also one of the few organisations in Leeds offering fiscal hosting, enabling small, community-rooted projects to operate safely, legally and sustainably.

A pivotal moment for LCCT

The organisation is now at an important point of transition. Two long-standing trustees, including the Chair, are stepping back, meaning new trustees are needed for LCCT to continue legally.

Following a recent strategic review, the charity is also ready for renewal, with plans for stronger governance, clearer processes, improved risk management and a refreshed structure to support its staff and projects.

For new trustees, this represents an opportunity to help shape the next chapter of an organisation that is deeply relational, trusted and valued by the communities it serves.

The time commitment is relatively flexible, with most trustees contributing around 2–4 hours per month alongside quarterly meetings.

What would trustees do?

The trustee role involves providing governance, strategic oversight and stewardship, helping to ensure LCCT remains safe, sustainable and true to its charitable objectives.

This includes:

  • Governance and compliance – overseeing Charity Commission requirements, risk management, safeguarding, finances and policies.

  • Strategic leadership – helping shape LCCT's future direction and refreshed organisational model.

  • Staff support – supporting the Operations/Project Manager and ensuring staff wellbeing, workload and decision-making structures are sustainable.

  • Relationship building – maintaining relationships with project leads and strengthening links with churches, funders and city partners.

  • Protecting LCCT's ethos – ensuring the organisation remains relational, faith-rooted and community-centred, while protecting its reputation and integrity.

Who is LCCT looking for?

Trustees should be committed to the Christian faith and in full sympathy with LCCT's mission, values and objectives. Integrity, humility, emotional maturity and an ability to make balanced decisions are important, as is a willingness to learn and engage with charity governance.

Experience in areas such as charity governance, safeguarding, finance, HR, operations, community development or church-based social action would be particularly useful, as would experience of organisational change, risk management or handling complex situations.

Could you get involved?

With LCCT at a pivotal moment, the arrival of new trustees could help determine whether the organisation moves confidently into its next chapter or is forced to close.
