The Yorkshire & Humber Climate Commission has been exploring the idea of an event bringing people together from different backgrounds to discuss ways in which faith influences how we treat the natural world and our views on climate change.
Wednesday 26 April 2023 at 7.30pm - 8.30pm (online)
Faith and the natural world
Key points covered:
- The region's main faith groups and central beliefs around nature that unite us all
- Short introduction to the community aspect of the Yorkshire and Humber Climate Commission and reasons the region needs to be prepared for more extreme weather
- Success stories - celebration of efforts
- Barriers and challenges to creating change in faith communities and places of worship
Wednesday 7th June 2023 at 7.30pm - 8.30pm (online)
Faith and the climate ready future
Key points covered:
Consumer choices we make as people of faith and how to balance climate change with cost of living (food, household items, cheap fast fashion)
- How members of the congregation can influence places of worship
- Success stories - celebrations of efforts within faith communities
- Interfaith project proposals to help preserve nature and improve community relations
The organisers will be sending the zoom registration links out soon, and I will follow up when they become available. In the meantime, they had a few questions:
- Would you like to see additional topics included?
- Do you think members of your faith community would attend, if not then what would help create interest?
- Who else do you know in a leader/influencer position that needs to be involved at this early stage?
If you would like to contact the organisers on the above, or any other issues, you can do so here:
