Weekly Devotional - Don’t fall for the Spirit of Deception

My friends, satan attracts us with pleasurable things that look good on the surface, but underneath they are foul. In other words – deception.  I personally have fallen for this trick of satan and it led me to start praying daily for insight to defeat his lies.

Deception can come through relationships and activities we are involved in or doubting and diluting the word of God to suit our situation.  Regardless of the types of deception satan throws our way, we must heed the word of God in Ephesians 5:6 that says “Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient”.

For us not to fall for the spirit of deception, we must:

  • Have faith in the written word of God – This requires confident assurance in God that He will do what He promises and if we do, His words will guide and lead us.
  • Pray – We must daily pray to walk in the spirit of God, so we do not fulfill the desires of the flesh.
  • Remain vigilant – We must always remember that not everything that looks good on the surface is good.  Our recourse is to test all things through the lenses of the word of God – discard what is deceptive and hold on to what is truth and good.

Christ follower, God will deliver you from any form of deception that satan plans to use to destroy your testimony In Jesus Name, Amen. If you are currently not a Christ follower, put a stop to satan’s deception that there is no Hell and your truth is as good as God’s truth.

All glory to God!
