History shows that some of the best ideas have been sparked over a shared meal and for Matt Chew, an organist at Trinity Church, Rawdon, that certainly proved true. When Matt heard that beloved local bakery Croissant d’Or, was struggling with the cost of replacing a broken commercial oven, he knew something had to be done.

With a heart for community and a passion for bringing people together, Matt decided to turn an ordinary breakfast into something extraordinary. He rallied Trinity Church to host a special community breakfast fundraiser, and the response was nothing short of amazing.

With voluntary donations pouring in, the breakfast raised an impressive £400, contributing to the £6,000 raised so far toward the hefty £18,000 goal!. But beyond the funds, the event captured something even more valuable: the spirit of community. This wasn’t just about croissants (though we read they were delicious); it was about community spirit at its finest. Matt’s weekly coffee mornings at the bakery had already fostered strong connections, and this event took that sense of togetherness to the next level.
