Starting salary: £24786-26089 (matching JNC scale 5-8) pro rata

This neighbourhood project is growing and developing and there is the opportunity to join the team as a Youth Support Worker. You would lead WOW, our Wednesday night youth group, as well as develop new work out of The Cabin, our community building managed by young people.

Job role and responsibilities:

1.    To develop and lead WOW youth group during term time in a way that enables the adult and young volunteer teams to participate and grow.

2.    To establish and lead a session of work out of The Cabin, developing a young volunteer and adult team.

3.    To exercise inclusive pastoral care for the young people, supporting their spiritual, social and emotional needs, and encourage the participation of young volunteers in the Volunteer Scheme.

4.    To lead WOW’s annual residential and facilitate a welcoming and safe space for all.

5.    To participate in the supervision process and accept regular support from your Line Manager, the Project Coordinator, and be accountable to the Trustees.

6.    To represent the needs and views of the young people to the sponsoring churches and, where appropriate, enable the children to do this for themselves.
 

We have a team of volunteers and employed staff – a Project Coordinator/Youth worker and Children and Family worker. Hours are mainly worked in term time, with flexibility to cover Holiday Club and residentials. Salaries are paid monthly at the same rate throughout the year.

Salary in the range £24786-£26089 (matching JNC scale 5-8) pro rata, dependent on qualifications and experience. An enhanced DBS check will be required and there is an occupational requirement for the post holder to be a Christian.
