Starting salary: £35,000

The post holder will be responsible for the day to day running of the Shed to include:

  • Leading woodworking sessions, ensuring that safe working practices are adhered to at all times and a safe environment is maintained.
  • Maintaining records of attendance.
  • Recruitment, training and supervision of paid staff and volunteers, including sessional workers.
  • With the support of the Session Supervisors, welcoming new members to the Shed and carrying out inductions in line with the induction policy.
  • Management of stock and routine maintenance, ensuring the workshop equipment is maintained to health and safety standards.
  • Seek to drive full utilisation of the Shed
  • Keeping the trustees updated on session activities and any issues / incidents that arise.
  • Administering simple first aid when appropriate and knowing the procedure for dealing with any medical emergencies. (training will be provided).
  • As a key holder for the building, being responsible for opening / closing.

 

The post has administrative support. The post holder will work with the Shed Administrator to -

  • Ensure there is sufficient staffing for all sessions.
  • Explore funding opportunities and potential new business.
  • Promote the Horsforth Shed, including occasional updating of the website.
  • Ensure that safeguarding procedures are maintained.
  • Ensure all financial transactions are recorded and approved.
