Tuesday, 13th May: 6:00pm - 8:00pm
Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Chapeltown Road, Leeds, LS7 4BH
Local artist Janet Freckleton takes photographs of nature in and around Chapeltown, Leeds, near to where she grew up and currently lives, to share them with family, friends and colleagues.
Recently she has photographed a treescape across the road from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, and reflects on the beauty of nature right here in the heart of the city. She returns through all seasons to photograph the same spot, taking time to look again at her images to explore themes of belonging, and the beauty of nature, that we can easily overlook right on our doorstep. Janet's photography reminds us that even those who are often overlooked, are loved and seen by God.
Dr Sharon Watson MBE DL, Chief Executive and Principal of the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, reflects on partnerships and connections forged through the ‘Four Seasons of the Caribbean’, commissioned by Leeds International Concert Season in partnership with Riley Theatre for the Sound Out Leeds series 2023/24.
In conversation, Janet and Sharon will reflect on their own interpretations of what our Art Theology Festival theme ‘Wisdom: Rooted in Place’ means to them, and how they each have explored their creativity through the phrase ‘Four Seasons’.
