Praise Gathering & Open Afternoon - Leeds City Mission
calendarView calendarallView all events

The City Mission Hub is the last public building at the end of the Armley shopping area.  A light free lunch will be served around tables between 12.30 – 1.30 pm on the adjacent lawn.  Between 1.30 – 2.30 pm there will be a time of praise and a short update about on-going City Mission work.  It will also include the launch of yet another City Mission project helping churches and believers in the City.

LCM is linking with the Christian charity Book Aid.  Amongst its various activities and ministries LCM is becoming their collection point for the West Yorkshire area.  Book Aid sends books globally to partner bookshops and other institutions (eg bible colleges, church libraries, mission schools etc) as a distinctive mission activity. They have distributed over 35 million books since 1988!  Most of these are in countries where english is the language medium of education – thus most recipients are in Commonwealth nations.

Rev Bill Innis from New Testament Church of God will be bringing the concluding devotional message.

At the conclusion of formal proceedings there will be delicious free ice creams and further liquid refreshments.  City Mission Coordinator Andy Dalton said that many believing people who came to these events really appreciate the opportunity to catch up on City Mission work, hear an inspiring message and also meet a wide range of people from different churches in Leeds.  People will hear about opportunities to put their no-longer-needed Christian books to good use.  He said the location was an ideal setting with tables to sit around under the shade of leafy trees in the late summer sunshine.  There is plenty of on-street parking and various bus routes passing nearby including 14, 15, 16, 72, 81, 86, 87, X6 & X11.  It is highly accessible from all parts of the city.

There are alternative arrangements in case of inclement weather.

Andy Dalton concluded “All people need to do is turn up on the day.  Our Centre is easy to find being diagonally opposite Armley Library and also the last public building in the main shopping area.  Everyone is most welcome.”

Leeds City Mission is a multi-church Christian agency which has brought gospel hope, practical help and effective outreach to generations of Leeds residents since 1837.  More details on 0113 345 3118
