The isolation and disconnection of the pandemic has proved especially harmful to older people, and many are now living with depression and stress. Some are reluctant to leave home, even for church.

In this session Janet Jacob, former psychogeriatric nurse and care home manager and me, Louise Morse, Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and author, lead a discussion on the things we can say and do to help. Top of the list is spiritual support. Israel’s King David wrote, ‘When my anxious thoughts multiply within me, Your consolations delight my soul.’ What consolations can we unpack for older people that will lift their anxiety and depression?
