Heritage Open Day: Abraham Sharp: Bradford’s Astounding Astronomer

Join us for a talk; craft activities; and space-themed music, and explore our very inflatable solar system!Discover more about space, astronomy and Bradford's 'Astounding Astronomer' Abraham Sharp in an event that will be out of this world! You can find out more about Sharp by visiting his plaque to hear more about his work and his discoveries and see his calculation of Pi laid out in the Cathedral.
There will also be a talk from Rod Hine of the Bradford Astronomy Society all about space, and lots of space-themed craft activities to take part in. You'll also be able to travel from the Sun to Pluto by visiting our inflatable solar system - and you can even take a selfie at Saturn or go on your own mission to Mars!
And for those who are big fans of the movies, there will be a 30-minute musical spectacular with themes from the films played on our organ. There will also be some intergalactic refreshments on offer, and a chance to go on a short tour of the Cathedral.
