St Luke's and St Matthew's Lutheran Church is a member of the Lutheran Church in Great Britain. We are a multi ethnic, welcoming, and diverse community based in Headingley.
We follow the ancient liturgy of the Church and, as Lutherans, believe that Christ is present in the bread and wine of communion. We use both modern and traditional hymns. However, not all of us are 'Lutheran'- in the words of our Eucharistic Liturgy, 'Christ invites us to this holy feast. All are invited and all are welcome'.
We meet every Sunday at 10.30am for worship. Most weeks we have a Communion Service but on some occasions this is replaced by a service of the word or another service. Our times of Worship are usually followed by a time of fellowship.
There are not many Lutheran churches in the UK but as a result we have an extremely diverse and inclusive congregation with people from all over the world.
Most of our members are Lutherans from other countries but we welcome anyone and everyone to worship with us.
