Today, I want to invite you to take comfort in our God who is not estranged from us. He sees us, He knows us, and He feels too. I want to invite you to take some time to read this slowly, becoming aware of God with you right now. Pause when you need to. Listen to Him. Relax into His love.
He sees
‘For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayers.’ (1 Peter 3:12)
Take a moment right now where you are just to become aware of His eyes on you. Remember that they are eyes of love and delight! His disposition towards you is favourable and protective.
Take comfort in His loving gaze on you. His proud Father gaze!
He knows
‘You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.’ (Psalm 139:2-3)
He handcrafted every part of you. He knows you better than you know yourself. He knows your ways and your tendencies. He knows your strengths and weaknesses. He knows your motives and your desires. And He loves you deeply.
He feels
‘He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.’ (Isaiah 53:3)
One of the most incredible and unfathomable parts of our God is that He feels. The God of the universe feels deeply.
Jesus lived a rich life on earth full of laughter, joy and friendship. But He also experienced suffering, pain, temptation, rejection, loneliness and betrayal. He identifies with all those things and everything in between. There is nothing that we could feel that He can’t empathise with.
God is on the journey of life with us. We have an intimate God. We have a God that comes close – closer than anyone else. We have a God who sees, knows and feels.
