Weekly Devotional - Are You Enjoying a Balanced Diet?

My friends, you and I know that to live a healthy physical life style, we need a balanced diet of protein, carbohydrate, vegetables, fruits and other nutrients.  The same is true of our spiritual life.

I have often found that we generally don’t deny ourselves of the physical diet but we neglect our spiritual diet which is far more important.  2 Corinthians 5:1 reminds us that “For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands”. 

Enjoying a well-balanced spiritual diet requires an honest evaluation of the following:

  • Are we growing in the word of God?: There is guidance and solution for everything we need to do life in the Bible – be it relational, emotional, career, business, marriage, finance, health and so on.  All we have to do is locate, believe and apply it to our situation, circumstance and event.
  • Are we bearing fruit? – A good measurement is the evidence of a changed life as we grow in the understanding of God’s word.  This change should be manifested in our physical, emotional and spiritual life.

Christ follower, each time you nourish the physical, make sure you give the spiritual a double attention because it has an eternal value. If you are currently not a Christ follower, come and drink from the fountain of life – Jesus.
