Caring For Life is a Christian ministry whose mission is to share the gospel and love of Jesus to disadvantaged, vulnerable and at risk adults in Leeds, West Yorkshire. We do this by offering support through a range of therapeutic daytime projects as well as supported living and remote support in and around the city.  The charity’s motto is to “Share the love of Jesus" and our ultimate aim is to see those in our care come to know Jesus as Lord.

Main duties of the post holder would be:

1. To undertake a period of induction and training.

2. To maintain the existing Trust database, ensuring that reports are filed to Trusts on time, applications for funding meet the required deadlines, accurate records are kept of calls made, emails, grants received, and acknowledgement letters sent.

3. To research new potential funders, utilising online search systems already in place, publications and opportunities such as Invisible Grantmakers.

4. To access the CFL online budget request system to check items being requested by project leaders/senior managers, and to liaise with the Exec Director regarding what items are targetable, and how.

5. To attend budget meetings with the Exec Director and project leaders, to assist in ensuring that staff are fully aware of funds received, and so forth.

6. To draw together proposals, covering letters and reports, liaising with project leaders/senior managers regarding information required for these.

7. To liaise with Design and Media team regarding any photographs needed for proposals and reports.

8. To maintain records of approaches made to Large Givers, correspondence, gifts and reports due; also to maintain communication with some Large Givers, as requested by the Exec Committee.

9. To maintain any existing corporate donor links and to research ways of increasing corporate donor income.

10. To try at all times to act in a professional and Christian manner, in maintaining the honour of the Lord Jesus Christ and preserving a respected name for the Trust.

11. To undertake inhouse training as required, and any suitable external training courses for the role.

Please note that whilst your principle responsibility will be to this area of ministry, all appointments to Caring For Life are to the general ministry and work of the Trust and you may be required from time to time to work in other areas than those described in this job description, if such a need arises. Caring For Life reserves the right to direct staff into whatever areas of responsibility are most urgently needed to ensure the ongoing ministry of the Trust and the welfare of those who are the subjects of its care.

Skills Required (See detailed Person Specification)

1. Ability to organise one’s work, prioritise and meet deadlines.

2. Excellent communication skills (written and spoken); good English grammar.

3. Creative writing skills.

3. Good team player.

4. Good IT skills including database mechanisms.
