Leeds Church Institute are arranging an open day at their centre to discuss Universal Credit and benefits that are affected by the new provision.

At 12-noon we will be launching a universal credit pack with details of referral agencies who can advise and help clients in Leeds.

The overall intention is to link up those who will be involved with problems brought to them, by clients, parishioners and participants in churches, community centres and drop in centres with those who work with these benefits.

These will include solicitors with legal aid contracts, Citizens advice Bureau and welfare and housing benefits workers and practitioners.

  • There will be a welcome session for all participants introducing Universal Credit and the potential problems people will face
  • There will be workshops/advice sessions to provide information on specific areas of benefits
  • Stands in the main convention room for providers of services to display their information and referral pathways

We are inviting those who would like to meet up with providers and explore links that would help their clients and groups of clients facing the changes in benefits who want an opportunity to gain further information on how it will affect them and what steps they need to take next.

The event will take place on the 1st of August 2018 between 10.00am and 4.00pm, with the Universal Credit document launch event at 12noon.

This is a free event but do please book ahead on our eventbrite page here. Teas, coffees and refreshments will be provided by LCI.
