Friday, 21st July: 7:15pm - 9:00pm
On 20 July 1944, a plot to kill Hitler failed, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, in prison, knew immediately that some of his companions in the resistance were already dead, and he and others were in even more danger of their lives. The next day, 21 July 1944, he wrote a remarkable letter to his friend Eberhard Bethge. He reflected on the life that had landed him in prison.
How is life to be lived well, in the world as it is?
Should I aim to become a saint?
How faith is learned by living unreservedly in life’s duties and problems, successes and failures.
Where is God in all this?
On 21 July 2023, Haddon Willmer will introduce the letter so we can share open discussion about what we find it is saying to us.
All welcome
Copies of the letter, in English, will be available.
