Sadly on the 1st August 2011 the Nationwide Christian Trust went into voluntary liquidation. This then affected the remaining Living Oasis stores including Leeds. We have pursued
alternative routes to try and keep the vision alive at 77 Albion Street. Unfortunately they recently fell through.
The staff - myself, Sara, Spencer, Janet and Howard would like to express our thanks for the support we have received over the past 18 months in so many wonderful ways. Please pray for us all as we all look for alternative employment and other ways to serve Christ.
Please also remember our sister shop in Harrogate which is also closed. The Harrogate staff have given over 35 years service. Can we save the Harrogate shop? There is still one week left to see if we can raise £30,000 to keep the shop open. If you feel you can help please email me at k.spence1@btinternet.com
Please also pray for Living Oasis Liverpool as they continue to pursue the vision under the guidance of Phil Jump and Anna Bunn. The next few weeks are crucial to them.
A few points to reflect on as we go about our daily lives:
-
What should a Christian presence on the High Street look like?
-
How do we as Christians support our local communities?
-
How can the Leeds Churches work more closely together ?
So please support your local bookshop. They do amazing missional work and help you as an individual grow in your faith and supply important resources to the churches. So if you have not stepped inside one for a while, then do. The nearest shops are:
