Living Oasis Leeds – New Christian Bookshop

On Saturday 13 March, after only six weeks absence, a Christian bookshop will reopen on the site of the former Wesley Owen on Vicar Lane in Leeds. The new “Living Oasis” will bring a fresh approach, opening first as a bookshop but with plans to expand. New owners, the Nationwide Christian Trust, have a missional vision for the store which includes introducing a café and making the premises available as an evening and weekend resource for churches to use as a neutral venue for outreach activity such as Alpha courses.

This is a vision of partnership with the Leeds churches who will be welcome to offer their own ideas on how the new store can be best used to reach the wider community. To begin this new partnership all the churches in Leeds have been invited to send representatives to a lunchtime presentation at St Georges Church on 5 March. The presentation will be led by Karen Spence, manager of the new store and formerly Wesley Owen manager who along with leaders of the Nationwide Christian Trust will introduce Living Oasis. This will be the first opportunity to share ideas, vision and seek out God’s plan for the new store.
