An opportunity not to be missed

Hi all,IMGP0103

A bit of a random one this, but Leeds Christian Community Trust is currently in possession of a fantastic community consultation tool known as the Voice Box. As you will see from the pictures it is a large, extremely sturdy, attractive and well made wooden box with a door on the front, a seat inside and a compartment to mount a video camera pointing at anyone you invite in. What isn’t shown in the pictures is the two wheels, the wooden handles to lift it (rickshaw style) and a big red roof with a loudhaler mounted in it. It is essentially a Big Brother Diary Room on wheels. Groups in our networks have used it in community consultations in Burley, Seacroft and Farsley, asking questions such as ‘if this area was an animal, what would it be?’

Because of problems with storing it, we’re looking to give the Voice Box away (including mini-DV camera) to any group who will agree to loan it out to other VCFS groups across the city.  It really is a nice bit of kit, and it’d be a shame to not make the most out of it in our communities. Get back to me if you’re interested at tim@lcct.org.uk before March 5. If more than one group comes forward, we can work out the best solution between us. In order to collect it, you’ll need to hire a van and provide two fairly strong people at either end of its journey from Burley to its new home.

Look forward to hearing from you,

Tim Jones
